Ever since her independence till date, Nigeria has consistently witnessed a gross failure, not only in her leadership but generally with the state of affairs concerning her political situation. The problem with Nigeria appears polyhedral because it is very difficult for one to easily spot the major cause of the many failed experiences in the political situation outside its amalgamation. For this reason, the average Nigerian continues to blame the foremost founders, a so-called incredible Empire, for Nigeria’s political instability.
We understand the very situation that graced her formation as a sovereign state through amalgamation, which was masterminded by an Empire, who, without taking cognizance of the precedent political ideologies and practices of the three major regions respectively, formed the country after all.
Recent anthropological studies reveal that the foremost original political understanding and practices of the then three major regions of present Nigeria had Biafra as a republic, Oduduwa as oligarchic, and Hausa as feudalistic. The majority that holds this belief will never accept that the three major regions can co-exist.
However, their continuous blame of the colonial masters serves no good towards understanding the very situation that we are experiencing now. Since her independence, several people from different backgrounds have given different inferences patterning to the political unrest in Nigeria. Some people posit that our problem stems from the ambivalence of choices; others lay accusations on religious beliefs and practices, ethnic bigotries and naïveté, socio-cultural differences, language differences, and so on.
However, to say that there is no problem with Nigeria is a deceptive assumption. It can be qualified as one of those elite conspiracies to present Nigeria before the international world as a functional state. But one assumption is real; that the ship of Nigeria is capsizing due to confusion in her political situation.
One of the greatest possible confusion of Nigeria in her political situation is that she doesn’t have a clearly defined system of government. Through the various themes of the elite’s conspiracies, the international world has been made to believe that Nigeria is a Democratic Nation, but her political practices are too distant to near the definition of democracy. As a citizen of Nigeria, I cannot even give a distinct definition of our political system and ideology.
Following that, the greatest disappointment one can get is even from the ruling class who have accused the nation as corrupt. Who are the corrupter and the corrupted in this nation? To this end, the masses have understood and achieved absolutely nothing but disbelief in the government.
It is, therefore, necessary to give a report of the state of affairs of Nigeria’s political situation from a nonpartisan viewpoint to understand the reason for the political unrest and the endless cries of freedom by the masses in general and different secessionist groups.
Simply put, the system of government that is original to us is re-echoing and needs to be saved to live again, and that system is what we try to reestablish by pointing the failures of the present system. This very system that is original to us is culture government. As such, this report is a revolutionary proposal to reinstate Nigeria and Africa as a whole to a progressive government.
